Camp Vision July 21 - 25, 2008 in Colorado Springs

Live in the Colorado Springs area and have children 5 to 12 years old?  Register your kids for Camp Vision 2008 -- a unique and world-class opportunity for growth.

As we look forward to our second Camp Vision, July 21 – 25, we are excited about the opportunities that Camp Vision has to offer!  Your kids will have these experiences, not available at any other day camp:

●Participate in classes taught by Olympians and Paralympians. World-class physically disabled athletes will involve your kids in lessons and activities that help them understand the joy of overcoming adversity and inspire them to appreciate their own gifts and talents;

● Learn about the Chinese culture through art, dance, music and games taught by Colorado Springs Chinese Language School teachers. Also, enjoy a Chinese Festival as we honor our Olympic and Paralympic athletes who will be competing at the 2008 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing, China;

● Feel the beat - Kissidugu's Project Drum will teach Camp Vision students about West African percussion and dance. From hand drumming basics to body percussion, musical notation, dance and ensemble drumming, Camp Vision students are sure to be nurtured and challenged!

● Paralympian Jason Regier will be teaching the kids about quad rugby a sport for wheelchair athletes. Trish Downing will also be sharing another wheelchair sport called “hand cycling”. Kids will also have the opportunity to try out some super cool wheelchair games!

● Tim Willis, two time Paralympic track and field athlete, will teach the kids about blindness and give children the opportunity to try out being a guide runner for the blind. Team USA Women's goalball team may be stopping by Camp Vision to play goalball (a sport specifically for the blind) with the kids;

● Enjoy two super fun field trips to the U.S. Olympic Training Center and 7-Eleven Velodrome. Check out the latest and greatest 2008 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games Beijing video!

● At the Olympic Training Center kids will do some taekwondo moves and be taught from one of taekwondo’s best – Master Sammy Pejo, 1988 Olympian. 2008 Olympic Hopeful Jennifer Pejo will introduce us to the sport of weightlifting. We will also stop by the swimming pool and wish Rudy Garcia-Tolson, two time Paralympian and gold medalist, and his teammates good luck before they head off to Beijing, China.

● Next stop - The 7-Eleven Velodrome where Matt King, three time Paralympian, will show us how blind cyclists race on tandems. The velodrome is a cement banked track where “track cyclists” compete on bikes with no brakes. Some of Matt’s amputee teammates will also show campers how they ride bikes with one leg. Two Time Olympic track cyclist, Erin Mirabella, will also share her new book, "Shawn Sheep the Soccer Star."

●Your kids will be ambassadors of friendship for blind youth from all over the United States who will be competing in Colorado Springs at the 2008 State Games of the West.

●Have a great time playing and competing with some of your Camp Vision friends as we play beep baseball, try our skills at five a side soccer (soccer ball made for the blind), and enjoy some fun in the sun at our very own Camp Vision Games! It’s sure to be a fun time had by all. Plus much, much more….
