Volunteer Thank you for your interest in helping as a Camp Vision volunteer. We are looking forward to working with you in coordinating a very educational and fun-filled week for the Camp Vision kids!
In order to volunteer, please complete a volunteer form and fill out what dates you can work on the volunteer schedule
Volunteer MeetingWe will be having a volunteer meeting at the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church community center library on Tuesday, July 15th at 6:30 pm.
We would be most grateful if you could please plan to attend this very important meeting as we will be to discussing the roles and responsibilities of all volunteers. It will be helpful for all of us to get to know who we will be working with and what we are to do once we arrive at Camp Vision. It is our main priority to provide a safe and healthy environment for the Camp Vision children.
We would also like to share with you an informational video about some of the Paralympic athletes. It will be especially helpful for the new volunteers who did not volunteer at last year's Camp Vision.
T-Shirts
We ask that all volunteers who volunteer please wear their t-shirts during Camp Vision times. The t-shirts, esepcially, help the children recognize their Camp Vision leaders and friends when we are out on our field trips.
Camp Vision Schedule
Camp Vision is July 21 - 25, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Divine Redeemer Catholic School. Each day we will register children in the Divine Redeemer Catholic School gym (Divine Redeemer Catholic School 901 North Logan Avenue Colorado Springs, CO 80909). Volunteers should arrive at about 8:30 am so that we can set-up prior to the kids arriving at 9:00 amEach day the children will learn about a sport, culture, and physical disability. You will be receiving a final schedule by the end of this week. Its an Olympic and Paralympic year, so the Olympic and Paralympic athletes training schedules change daily. So because their schedules change daily Camp Vision schedule changes daily. We have to be flexible, it always works out. The Olympic Training Staff, volunteers, and athletes are very committed to helping us provide our children a very educational experience. It is going to be an awesome Camp Vision!!
What do volunteers do?
Camp Vision volunteers need to be patient, kind, and loving at all times to ALL Camp Vision children and other volunteers. We work many hours together and we need to be respectful of each other. If you do not like working with children (ages 5 - 12 years old), this volunteer opportunity may not be the best fit for you.
Camp Vision volunteers serve as classroom assistance, chaperones, help with set-up, and clean-up, snack and lunch helpers, and whatever else we have to do to help provide our children with a pleasant learning experience.
Volunteer Rules
Camp Vision volunteers will need to please arrive on time, treat the children and other volunteers with respect, absolutely no name calling, abusive behavior to children, volunteers, or Divine Redeemer property. If volunteers cannot abide by the rules they will be asked to leave and not return to Camp Vision. Please remember: volunteers serve as role models to young children, they look up to you. So please take your volunteer responsibilities seriously.
Sack Lunches, water bottle, and sunscreen
Please bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. We will be providing snacks and drinks for volunteers and campers. You may also consider bringing sunscreen as we will be outside some of the time. Also, please wear comfortable shoes.
Again, thank you for being a part of Camp Vision! We could not coordinate an event of this magnitude without loyal and dedicated volunteers. Your expertise and talents are greatly appreciated.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you at the Camp Vision meeting!
